Advanced Running is committed to developing elite athletes towards their goals. As part of that commitment, Advanced Running provides coaching for elite athletes in the Atlanta area. Below is a current list of some of those athletes.
Athlete Bios: Valerie Young: A three time NCAA champion, Valerie has run 15:45 for the 5000 m and 32:50 for the 10,000m. She is also the current course record holder at the Atlanta 1/2 Marathon in 1:14:45. Valerie is currently concentrating on the longer distances and finished her first marathon in 2:38:02 at Grandma's June of 2002.
Beth Old: Former All-America from Georgia Tech, Beth has great range having run 4:45 for the mile and 1:14:53 for the 1/2 Marathon. Beth is currently training for the Olympic Trials in the marathon after running her 2nd marathon in 2:39:16 (11 minute PR!) in June 2002. Read Beth's "A Brief Chat With" in Runners World
Leah Moore: Former runner from University of Chattanooga has become quite a marathoner, being one of the few people to qualify for the Olympic Trials in her first attempt at the distance (2:46:40). Her other PR's include a 17:33(5k) and 36:45 (10k). Moore also has her MS in Exercise Science from Ga State and is the head Sports Nutritionist at GaTech.
Malcolm Campbell: Malcolm has been an outstanding runner in the Atlanta area for almost a decade. He has run under 30:00 numerous times for the 10k, 14:10 in the 5K, 1:04 for the 1/2 Marathon and 2:20 for the marathon. His current focus is the London Marathon this spring.
Donna Anderson: Donna obtained an Olympic Trials qualifying mark of 2:47:20 at the NYC marathon in 2001 and finished 13th in the USA nationals in that race. Donna has also run 35:35 for 10,000m and recently finihsed 2nd at the Richmond marathon in first race back after having her thrid child. Read DJ's " A Brief Chat With" in Runners World .
Carol Howe: Carol is an outstanding Canadian Runner with personal best of under 15:30 for the 5K, 33:10 for the 10K and set her marathon PR of 2:34:28 at Grandma's Marathon in 2003. Carol will be attempting to gain a spot on the Canadian Olympic team this year. Read Carol's "A Brief Chat With" in Runners World
Maria Ghizzoni: Maria ran PR's of 16:17 for the 5000m (track) and 34:48 for the 10,000m (road) this spring. She also ran 4:23.91 for the 1500m. This August she competed in her native Sweden in several meets and finished 2nd in the National Championship in the 5K.
